NHGRI Strategic Planning Town Hall

The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) recently launched a new round of strategic planning that will establish a “2020 vision for genomics” and culminate in the publication of a new NHGRI strategic plan in October 2020. As with past strategic planning efforts, NHGRI is soliciting input from the broader research and public communities to help shape the 2020 strategic plan.
As part of this effort, NHGRI is convening a series of ‘traveling’ Town Halls to gather ideas and feedback from researchers, trainees, industry experts, healthcare professionals, and other interested stakeholders about current and future opportunities in genomics research and applications. The public is also invited to attend and participate in this important process.
Their next such event will take place at the Stanford University Campus, McCaw Hall, Arrillaga Alumni Center, 326 Galvez Street, Stanford, CA, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Dr. David Haussler will moderate the second half of the morning session, which is open to all.
In addition to this general Town Hall, there will be a trainee-only event from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in McCaw Hall on the same day. Trainees are invited to attend and provide their critical input into the future of genomics research, which will follow an open format to maximize time to hear from attendees.
