Tshaka Cunningham is a co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at Polaris Genomics Inc., a precision behavioral health company that uses genomics to improve the risk prediction and diagnosis of mental health conditions such as PTSD. Along with his CSO position, Cunningham is also the Executive Director of the Faith Based Genetic Research Institute, a community-based nonprofit organization that works to provide access to genomics and precision medicine in marginalized communities.
 
Dr. Cunningham is a leading voice in advocating for diversity and representation in the field of genomics. He completed his postdoctoral training in immunology and tumor immunotherapy at the Pasteur Institute in Paris and at the National Institutes of Health, and received his PhD in molecular biology from Rockefeller University. In his presentation, he will speak of ongoing research projects with the NIH and other partners to address the diversity problem in genomic research.
