Panelists:

Christine Anyansi, PhDheadshot of Christine Anyansi
Bioinformatics Scientist at illumina
San Diego, California

I’m a scientist at illumina where I work on developing algorithms to uncover medically relevant insights in difficult to sequence regions of the genome. Maximizing my social and global impact in this world is something that drives me and keeps me continuously looking for new opportunities. In my free time I enjoy traveling, being outdoors, and volunteering. PhD in Bioinformatics, Delft University of Technology, 2020

Jordan Hughey, PhDHeadshot of Jordan Hughey
Scientist at GSK
Computational Biology
Las Vegas, Nevada

Jordan Martin Hughey is a computational biologist at GSK trained in statistical genetics, complex trait genetics and functional genomics disciplines. Jordan focuses on developing computational and statistical methods for the integration of functional genomic data. These methods will help decipher the genetic components and molecular mechanisms that underlie human diseases and complex traits. In his free time, Jordan enjoys basketball and traveling. UCSC Alumnus and RMI Scholar: BS, Bioinformatics, 2014 (Akeson Lab)

Maelia Uy-Gomez Headshot of Maelia Uy-Gomez
Senior Associate at Abzena
San Diego, California

Maelia Uy-Gomez is  a highly skilled research associate
With a diverse background of experiences.
Her current projects focus on downstream purification of antibodies for the purpose of drug manufacturing.  UCSC Alumni and RMI Scholar: BS Bioinformatics 2018 (Brooks Lab)

Joseph Dahl, PhD Headshot of Joseph Dahl
Bioskyrb Genomics

Joe Dahl is currently working in the private sector, innovating technologies related to single cell genomics. Motivated to build tools that enable others to succeed in their research. Specialist in nucleic acid metabolism. Cellular and in-vitro approaches. Foundations in protein & genomic research using single molecule techniques, enzymology, protein expression, NGS, RNA-seq, PCR, gel electrophoresis, gene transformation & cloning. Experienced and confident in traditional chemistry including working under inert gas, synthetic chemistry, spectroscopy.  UCSC Alumnus and RMI Graduate Fellow: PhD Chemistry, 2014 (Akeson Lab)
