Bio
Udi Manber is known for his work on search, which he started in the late 80s. After an academic career in Computer Science, he moved to high tech in 1998 and was the head of search for Yahoo until 2001, for Amazon until 2006, for Google until 2011, and for YouTube for a short time in 2014-15. He is now a Professor and director of Digital Transformation in the Department of Medicine at UCSF, where he works on software to improve healthcare.
Abstract
Healthcare is in great part a pure information business, but its use of technology for information is closer to a library card catalog than to a modern information business. I will discuss what’s missing and how to get it.
