A list of the world’s most highly cited researchers includes 16 scientists and engineers at UC Santa Cruz.
The 2017 edition of the Highly Cited Researchers List produced by Clarivate Analytics features more than 3,300 researchers in 21 fields in the sciences and social sciences who were recognized for publishing highly cited papers during the period from 2005 to 2015. “Highly cited papers” are defined as those that rank in the top 1 percent by citations for field and publication year.
UCSC faculty on the list include Sandra Faber, professor emerita of astronomy and astrophysics; Jonathan Fortney, professor of astronomy and astrophysics and director of the Other Worlds Laboratory; David Haussler, professor of biomolecular engineering and scientific director of the Genomics Institute; Garth Illingworth, professor of astronomy and astrophysics; and Yat Li, associate professor of chemistry and biochemistry.
The list also includes James Kent, research scientist at the Genomics Institute and creator of the UCSC Genome Browser, along with 10 other members of the Genome Browser Team: Galt Barber, Hiram Clawson, Mark Diekhans, Rachel Hart, Angie Hinrichs, Donna Karolchik, Robert Kuhn, Brian Raney, Kate Rosenbloom, and Ann Zweig.
